I’m pleased to say that two of my short stories were selected as Finalists in the 2021 Royal Palm Literary Awards of the Florida Writers Association. Both stories are part of the Tales of Verdant anthology.
“Fishing Hands” tells of Marta Bloom’s struggle to be accepted as captain of her father’s fishing boat in the Islands of Winter. She fights both a skeptical mate and the huge, dangerous tsifta fish, one of which took her father’s foot.
“Sixteen, Nine, Four Fifty” follows police detective Soren Moller in the free-thinking chaotic democracy of Tileus as he and his partner try to collar a pedophile in a country where popular vote changes the laws on a daily basis.
