New Release: Verdant Divided

My newest novel releases today on Amazon! Find it at this link.

A simple pilgrimage with miracles runs afoul of both technology and Holy War. Award-winning author Doc Honour spins another fascinating tale of people caught in their own dilemmas on the planet Verdant.

Jake Palatin’s empathy technology, the transpath, helps people to understand each other, until one religious country bans the device. Struggling to meet their dream of a kinder humanity, he and his wife Zofia fight to spread the transpath to the three remaining human worlds.

Fenet Powrfaith, an unknown itinerant minister, loses his lifelong ability to perform miracles. Following his God’s purifying command to walk seven hundred kilometers, he is torn by his disciples gaining the abilities he has lost. When the One Church attacks them, his disciples turn to the banned transpath for help.

Set against growing international tension, the events sweep toward a stunning conclusion that surprises everyone—including the reader.

For those of you who followed my blog series last year on “the edges of science,” this novel continues the Empathic Humanity series that explores one of those edges: political systems and their impacts on people.

The future planet Verdant is a small world with a 16 hour day. Humanity has destroyed all but three of the worlds it has colonized due to our propensity for hate. Verdant nears its end, with four countries in constant conflict. A theocracy gives people faith by controlling them. A socialist country oppresses everyone by providing everything, on its terms. A tribal country tries to isolate from the others but needs their technology. And a pure democracy fosters protests and riots in the street by daily voting on every national issue.
