I’m very pleased to say that my novel Not Like Us has been accepted as a Science Fiction semi-finalist in the Florida-wide Royal Palm Literary Awards for 2023. Finalists will be announced in another month or so, and the awards are at the Florida WritersCon on October 22.
Last year, my short story “Fishing Hands” won the first place Gold award for short stories. I’m crossing my fingers for even better performance for my novel… Perhaps “Book of the Year”?
It’s always difficult for an author to know the quality of his writing. Like anyone, my fears tell me my writing isn’t quite what I want it to be, while my pride tells me it’s marvelous. Independent judging like the Royal Palm settles that debate and fills me with satisfaction.
